Search Marketing Strategies
Once you have a website, you can start marketing it on the Internet to achieve your goals. I am sure you did not create your site just so you can say you are now part of the online world and are sprobably wondering what your next step is.
As you begin your research for search marketing strategies, you will be faced with a myriad of choices. Search marketing is important for those who have just started their online business and also for those who want to see positive changes in the way their website is positioned. Different strategies can bring about different results and this is why you need to understand what it is you want to achieve first before you choose a strategy to use.
Below are some suggestions for different search marketing strategies to help get you started.
Organic Search Engine Optimization
The main purpose of having a website is to provide something useful for your online visitors. Be it products, services or resources, they all have the same intent; and that is to help people make their lives easier. Being found in the organic listings in one way to attract targeted visitors.
Targeting the people that are likely to be interested in what you have is the key component in Internet marketing. Visiting your site is not an assurance that visitors will be converted to customers. So even if you are getting a lot of clicks, you are not really certain how that will result to until you see some sort of recognition, leads or customers coming from your website.
Pay-Per-Click or Sponsored Listings
Paying for clicks has been around since the early days of search marketing beginning with banners. In today's world it also included text ads that show not only in search engines but also on privately owned websites.
The search engines have programs that allow website owners to create and display ads to their visitors. When someone clicks on the ad, a charge is incurred. Typically website owners bid for position although price is not the only consideration when it comes to ranking. Ad and landing page content are also important factors not only when it comes to ranking but also for the bottom line, conversions. Without a compelling ad that entices searchers to visit your website, and a well written landing page with a clear call to action, not only will you stand the chance of either ranking low in the ad space but your also stand the risk of spending money and getting nothing in return.
Link Building Campaigns
Your search engine optimization strategy should also include a link building campaign since this is how you get links back to your site. Link building includes links out to expert resources, internal links from page to page and incoming links from other websites. There is strategy involved even in how you perform your linking. Remember, the search engines will know every detail about what is being done so be sure to stay away from those sites that are in bad neighborhoods.
Affiliate Marketing
If you are an online merchant, you might want to consider offering incentives for others to market your products for you. This is called affiliate marketing and has proven to be a valuable source of revenue for many companies.
Blogging
Another strategy that should be seriously considered is creating and maintaining a blog. A blog can be used to add fresh content to your website or even to generate links back to it. Be sure to blog with a purpose and invite interaction. Blogs should be built search engine friendly so they are easily indexed and updated on a consistent basis so as to invite the search engine spiders back to your site.
Specialized Search
Local and vertical search can play an even bigger role in a local company's search marketing campaign than some of the other strategies. If your target market is geographically situated, there are things you can do to ensure they will find you.
Online Press Releases
Many have missed out on the power of online press releases simply because they didn't know about them. Every business has news that someone will find newsworthy. Friends and family and yes even customers will be happy to hear about your latest accomplishments, acquisitions and mergers. Be sure to include online press releases as part of your ongoing search marketing strategy.
